This article reviews the key differences between Jabra Elite 7 Active and Jabra Elite Active 75t sports earbuds. If you are a fan of Jabra and have been using the Elite Active 75t sports earbuds, then we are quite sure that the Jabra Elite 7 Active is even better and thus highly recommended.
Jabra released two models in October 2021: the Jabra Elite 7 Pro and Jabra Elite 7 Active sports. We find that both earbuds are quite similar in design.
Jabra designers have done better than Apple who took 2 years to deliver Airpods 3, that is a watered-down version of the Airpods Pro with no improvements. We understand that it is not a “pro”, but it does not take 2 years to design it. We are always excited to celebrate innovative designs or improvements over previous models.
We also compared the Jabra Elite 7 Active to the latest sports earbuds released, such as the popular JBL Reflect Flow Pro will powerful specifications. While we are impressed with JBL Reflect Flow Pro’s design specifications, the Jabra Elite 7 Active is a strong contender.
In this comparison, the first difference we noticed is that the naming configuration has been changed by placing the word “Active” at the end (as in Jabra Elite 7 Active).
- Jabra Elite Active 75t (model number comes after)
- Jabra Elite 7 Pro (model number goes in-between)
We also noticed the pressure vent and missing button on the new Jabra Elite 7 Active earbuds. These observations will be covered in our review below.

The new Jabra Elite 7 Active is slightly smaller than the Jabra Elite 75t by about 16.8% but has the same weight, IP57 rating and button control. Based on our testing, the Jabra Elite 75t could “protrude” out of the ear lobe slightly when worn. Whereas, the Jabra Elite 7 Active will flush better with the outer ear lobe and maintain a lower profile.
The available colour ranges are also quite similar, with the same mint colour and slight variations in the blue and black tinted colours.

Wind Noise Reduction | Yes | Yes, Mic uses SAATI Acoustex® mesh |
The two main improvements for the Jabra Elite 7 Active include the 6mm re-engineered sound driver and new Peakstop, which Jabra explains as:
Whenever a sound spike comes in, PeakStop cuts off the “loud” part. Any sound above 118 decibels is considered too loud and is suppressed (which is in line with international regulation). As a result, you end up never even hearing the louder sound spikes in the first place. |
Adjustable or personalised ANC can be customised depending on the environment, such as a noisy event, shopping mall, cafeteria, or taxi stand. In the Sound + app, there are 5 levels of adjustments for HearThrough and a music equalizer that can be used for both the Jabra Elite 7 Active and Jabra Elite Active 75t.
However, one main difference is that the new Jabra Elite 7 Active now has 3 mics per earbud with 2 of them for hybrid ANC (feedback and feedforward). The existing Jabra Elite Active 75t has Feedforward (FF) ANC only.
The high-end earbuds have both Feedforward (FF) and Feedback (FB) ANC by using 2 dedicated ANC mics per earbud, and the 3rd mic is for capturing clear voices. This means that each earbud will require 3 mics (or 6 mics per set of earbuds).
Feedforward(FF) ANC is better at reducing higher-frequency noise at up to 1-2 kHz. It is based on the mic picking up the noise earlier and generating the “anti-noise” to the user.Feedback(FB) ANC works on a broader range of frequencies except for 1-2kHz. It is based on the mic picking up what the user hears. |
The Jabra Elite 7 Active’s microphone is also designed with SAATI Acoustex® mesh for wind noise protection. So while it does not have the Bone Conduction Sensor like the Jabra Elite 7 Pro, the designers did not ignore this requirement and added a feature to deal with the issue. This is another pat for good design.
What the bone conduction sensor does is transmit the voice using the vibrations through the jaw bone, so it eliminates external noise and wind to achieve the best voice clarity. Jabra Elite 7 Pro has the same feature, but it is called a VPU (Voice Pick Up) sensor instead of a “bone conduction sensor”.
The Sony WF-1000XM4 and Logitech Zone True Wireless earbuds also have a bone conduction sensor, but they are huge in size.

Compare Fitting and Comfort of Use
Tech Specs | Jabra Elite Active 75t | Jabra Elite 7 Active |
Pressure Relief/Vent | Yes | Yes |
Mono Mode (Use either earbud) | Right side only | Yes, either earbud can be used individually! |
Ear Gel | 3 sizes | 3 sizes |
Ear Wings | No | No. Use shake grip coating. |
There are two key improvements to Jabra Elite 7 Active: the ability to use either side for the mono mode or single earbud. This has been a limitation for the previous generation of Jabra earbuds.
The Jabra Elite 7 Active is designed for sports like the Jabra Elite Active 75t, and it still maintains the same design without ear wings. Although we have tested the Jabra Elite Active 75t, and it has not fallen out of our ears during a jogging session, not everyone may be as lucky as me. Others tried the Elite Active 75t, and some feedback was that the fitting was poor.
Jabra 62000 ears scanned
The Jabra Elite 7 Active has a similar shape to the Jabra Elite 7 Pro, which the company has tested using data from 62,000 ear scans to create the perfectly shaped bud. On top of that, the sports Jabra Elite 7 Active comes with the trademark Shake Grip Coating made with liquid silicone rubber compound on the outer casing. As the name implies, the coating helps to “grip” onto the ear lobe, which helps to prevent the earbuds from falling out.
Does the Jabra Elite 7Active Shake Grip Coating work? Of course, it does, but that is provided that the shape and size of your ear concha fall within the margin of error in the earbud shape design.
It is important to remember that this is a pair of fixed-sized earbuds, and they do not behave like “stretchable” socks or shoes where the material can stretch. Without flexible ear wings like most sports earbuds, we can confidently say that it could probably fit most users, but minorities might experience less than optimal fitting.
For those wondering what ear wings refer to, check out this article: Compare JBL Reflect Flow Pro vs Jabra Elite 7 Active Sports.
So we trust hundreds or thousands of users will post user reviews to verify that the earbud fits their ears perfectly. There will be minorities who might experience differently.
Compare Battery Life

If you are an existing Jabra Elite 75t user, one of the most significant improvements is battery life, and Jabra’s designers did not let us down! The battery life is on par with the best earbuds in the market today, with 8 hours of music playback with ANC ON and a total battery life of 30 hours, including the casing. Fast charging speed has also improved by 3 times from 15 to 5 mins for one-hour battery life.
The new Jabra Elite 7 Active earbuds have an improved battery life of 63% compared to the Elite Active 65t. The battery life is also better than Sony WF-1000XM4, Bose QuietComfort 45, and Apple Airpod Pro.

We have combined the connectivity and charging case for comparison, as most specifications are similar.
One of the most significant improvements for the Jabra Elite 7 Active is that all the casing comes with wireless charging capability. In contrast, the Jabra Elite Active 75t charging case is not in the earlier release. In the subsequent release, the charging case included wireless, but the wireless charging time is 6 hours. We do not find this a significant issue as we usually leave the charger on the wireless charging pad most of the time.
There is no change to the Bluetooth range, USB-C connectors, and multi-connection capability. The Jabra Elite 7 Active case is slightly heavier than the Jabra Elite Active 75t, but it is on par with most other charging issues in the market.
Final Thoughts
Suppose you are an existing Jabra Elite Active 75t user and the earbud fits fine for you. In that case, we believe the Jabra Elite 7 Active earbuds will be another perfect fit but one that comes with even better specifications. The Jabra Elite 7 Active earbuds are launched at the same price as Jabra Elite Active 75t and come with the two years warranty covering dust, water and sweat. Jabra offers no-hassle replacement, which we have tried and there are no issues with their courteous customer service.
