If you find this page then perhaps there is no need to explain what is WordPress and Jetpack, so we will cut to the chase about this error and what we did to resolve it.
The assumption is that you are using the Jetpack as a free user who uses the basic features. For paid users, they may like to send a support request to ask the Jetpack team to look into it, since they are paying for the service.
Jetpack Sync Error Symptoms:[tie_index]The Symptoms:[/tie_index]
Everyone may have a different experience but the issues started with the following observations:
1) The number of views on the “All Posts” page is no longer being updated.
2) In the Dashboard, the Site Health Status has a link to the “Site Health” page at “youdomain.com/wp-admin/site-health.php”. In that page, there could be other issues but there is a critical error that says:
“Jetpack has detected an error syncing your site. The information synced by Jetpack ensures that Jetpack Search, Related Posts and other features are aligned with your site’s current content.Error Jetpack has detected that data is not properly in sync which may be impacting some of your site’s functionality. Click here to start a full sync to align Jetpack with your site data. If you still notice this error after running a full sync, please contact support for additional assistance.” |
The link in the error message points to a support forum, which means that we need to post in the forum to seek help. It does not make sense to us but anyway, what is there to complain as a free user.
After clicking the full sync to try and fix the issue, the error remains. Instead of going for the diagnosis,
The Solution:[tie_index]The Solution:[/tie_index]
The solution is in fact quite simple, which is to deactivate and delete the Jetpack plugin and then “Add New” to install and activate a fresh copy.
The process takes less than 5 minutes and in my case, the problem is resolved in a jiffy.
- Add New
- Search for JetPack
- Install and activate
- Connect to WordPress to restart the sync with your website.
But again, if you are a paid Jetpack user, you may need to consider if there is any impact for re-installing the plugin such as the loss of information?
For free users, there is nothing to lose except for a short period of time where Jetpack loses track of post views and the other free functions.
After reinstalling a fresh copy, the sync error is gone and the “All Posts” page resume showing the view counts.
