iPhone 13 Pro Max Vs Mi 11 Ultra

This review compares the differences between the tech specs of the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is officially launched on 14 Sep 2021 at the Apple online event at 1PM ET., and the launch also includes Apple Watch 7 and Airpods 3.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was launched in March this year, which is 6 months ahead of Apple, but yet they have achieved several world records, including the fastest charging time and largest camera phone sensor to date. Let’s see if Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max has achieved any significant breakthrough in its product development.

The Mi 11 Ultra is a very heavy phone at 234g, which is almost 15% heavier than the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The fault may not be Xiaomi’s failure to allow a phone to become overweight, but Apple’s focus on weight-watching while developing and adding features need to be applauded. Anyone can easily squeeze hundreds of features into a tank, but try to do the same for the size of an ice cream bar is a completely different story.

Miniaturization is a keyword in developing mobile devices. If this is not always on the mind during the product development, then the weight and size will end up too big and less portable.

Mi 11 Ultra uses the latest, branded Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, while Apple uses a secretively branded ceramic shield that appears to be “nuke-proof”. Based on tests done by CNet on the previous iPhone, these ceramic shields are really tough at least when compared to the older Corning Gorilla Glass on older phones. When Apple says they are scratch and crack resistant, then they are telling the truth. Do note however that it is “scratch and crack-resistant”, not “scratch-proof” or “crack-proof”. There is no such thing on earth that is really scratch and crack proof.

There are not many known changes in the display of the iPhone 13 Pro Max when compare to the previous iPhone 12 Pro, except for the 1000 bits maximum brightness.

The Mi 11 Ultra HBM (high brightness mode) boosts and 20% brightness for their AMOLED screen. On the paper, it seems that the Mi Ultra 11 has a better screen overall in terms of brightness, resolution, and contrast, it may not be obvious to the end-user during actual usage.

The capacity of iPhone 13 Pro Max is kept a secret during the Apple Event briefing, and the only message we get is that the battery life of the iPhone Pro Max is the best ever in the history of iPhone.

Apple emphasizes the battery life of the iPhone 13 Pro Max is significantly improved by at least 90 mins under normal use, or in the case of video playback, as much as additional 2 hours or 12% more battery life than the previous iPhone. This could also be attributed to the A15 Bionic chip which is touted to have better efficiency.

Mi Ultra 11 continues to lead the pack with high-speed charging using 67W for both wired and wireless mode.

iPhone 13 Pro Max continues to use the 12MP camera lenses as per the previous model, which is a much lower resolution when compared to Mi Ultra 11. However, Apple packs and advertises a lot of features such as ProMotion, Cinematic stabilization, smart focus where the camera focuses on the person depending on where he is looking. These comparisons would require another full blog article to compare the differences.

A 12MP camera does not always mean that it will produce a worse photo than a 50MP camera, as it depends on other factors, one of which is the camera sensor size. The larger the sensor, the more light it captures, and so in theory it should provide a better quality photo image. In this case, the Mi Ultra 11 still wins because it has one of the largest camera sensors in the market.

iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max include a three-lens camera system. Its display has rounded corners that follow a beautiful curved design, and these corners are within a standard rectangle. 0% Emi service is available while buying the products.
