This article compares Jabra Elite 7 Pro vs Elite 7 Active earbuds, which were both released this month in October 2021. We have been using Jabra Elite Active 65t, Elite Active 75t and Elite 65e, so we are very familiar with Jabra. Jabra also has very good customer service.
In summary, we find both models are in fact very similar in design except for two features.
Almost Similar Design
The technical specifications of both the Jabra Elite 7 Pro and Elite 7 Active are almost identical, and the price difference is only $20.
Even the charging case has the same size and weight, and we believe they can be used interchangeably between both models since the size of the earbuds is almost the same. In fact, we will applaud the Jabra developers if they designed both models to use the same charging case to reduce the BOM and parts inventory. However, this needs to be verified with Jabra as there are still tiny differences in the size of the earbuds in the table below.
Both the Jabra Elite 7 Pro and Elite 7 Active Earbuds will have the same IP Rating of 57.
IP57 | Dust protected. Dust must not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with the satisfactory operation of the equipment. | Protected from water for 30mins. Depending on the size of the test sample, the highest point must be >150mm below the water surface, or the lowest point must be >1m, whichever is lower. |
Everything else, including 3 microphones per earbuds, adjustable ANC, transparency, mono mode, connectivity, battery life, and charging methods, are the same.
Key Differences between Jabra Elite 7 Pro and Jabra Elite 7 Active[tie_index]Key Differences between Jabra Elite 7 Pro and Jabra Elite 7 Active[/tie_index]
Bone Conduction Sensor
The Jabra Elite 7 Pro has a bone conduction sensor that helps to transmit your voice via vibrations of the jaw bone. This will improve the voice quality and reduce unnecessary background noise from being transmitted.
Shake Grip CoatingTM
The Jabra Elite 7 Active has Shake Grip Coating, ensuring the earbuds stay in the ears during active sports. Although Jabra claimed that they had tested many “ears” to come up with the best design, it is impossible to fit 100% of the ears. Ideally, we would prefer sports earbuds with ear wings proven to be very secure. We love Jabra Elite 65e, which has solid ear wings that never fall out of our ears after thousands of kilometers run. The same can be said for Klipsch T5 II sports earbuds.
Apart from the above two design features, there are no significant differences between the Pro and the Active. Anyone can design and 3D print a “third party” ear wing to install on both the Jabra Elite Pro or Jabra Elite Active. Even the IP57-rated Jabra Elite Pro can be used for sports if it has an ear wing!
