Qualcomm Quick Charge Reference

qc-logo

Quick charge (QC) is a fast-charging method developed by Qualcomm for smartphones that use the Snapdragon processors, such as Samsung and Xiaomi smartphones.

The device and the charger must support the Qualcomm QC protocol, which means Apple or any smartphone without Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor will not be supported. The device may still charge but at a reduced speed.

Qualcomm Quick Charge (QC) is different from USB Power Delivery (PD), which can be used for both smartphones and laptop computers that support the protocol and are not dependent on the processor type.

Apple devices support USB Power Delivery fast charging using their charger and third-party USB PD chargers.

The following is a summary table of the Quick Charge Standards based on info combined from Wikipedia Quick Charge. It is important to note that the Qualcomm processor listed in the right column shows the supported chipset; however, users should always use the manufacturer’s specified charger. Due to Qualcomm’s lack of proper historical documentation and convoluted information provided by other third-party websites, the following is purely for reference only.

After going through the references on Wikipedia as well as Qualcomm’s own webpage, we decided that the above table is not meant for anyone looking for a charger to match their Qualcomm mobile devices. The above information is meant for our internal note and reference for research purposes.

For safety reasons, users must always follow the manufacturer’s recommendation and use the supplied charger.
